When I start my computer I get a message on my desktop. It
says ( Memory access violation in kernel32 at ) then a
long string of numbers. I also get the same message when I
try to open my firewall and my antivirus programs. I`m not
sure if it`s a problem with a program starting up or
something else. I`m just a beginer so I don`t mess with
the registry or command codes. I still run Windows 98 SE.
I bought my computer used I don`t have the original set of
discs that came with the computer. But I do have a
recovery disc for it that`s all.

These are the signs of infection by the Swen virus, also known as
Gibe-F. Did you recently install something that claimed to be a
security patch e-mailed to you from Microsoft, or posted to a newsgroup?
It wasn't from Microsoft. Go to your antivirus vendor's web site and
look for instructions or a removal tool for getting the virus off your
computer.
