No http connection in IE 6.0

http connection has suddenly stopped working in IE 6.0 . ftp and https work,
and http works in Netscape 7.0, which I am having to use to post this. I get
automatic updates, so I may have got a "fix" to IE today that broke http.
Anyone else had this problem?
Is there something I should just delete, and pray that everything just
gets recreated next time I restart IE?
 
Never mind. For some reason I had the LAN settings / Advanced set to Use a
Proxy, and had not rebooted since I had FiOS installed a couple of weeks ago.
When I did a hard reboot, http stopped working. Removing the proxy check
mark fixed the problem.
 
Sorry Numfric,
I have the same problem. where are the LAN settings you modified? I might
have done it inadvertantly, who knows.
