I have been trying ro get my HP 6110 printer to work. Come to find out that
many others have had this problem. Some have used the HP 990C driver in
place of the 6110 driver.

The problem is this. When I try to add a printer and use the windows update
to select a printer, there are absolutly no HP printers in the list. There
are a bunch of others but nothing for HP. I have tried the XP version of
this driver but that does not work.

Does anyone know why I can not select an HP driver, or better yet, where I
can find the supplied Vista drivers others have used?

Thanks for all your help.

Well, i have a different problem, i have a HP 930c (old one) and is on
another pc, vista browsed throug the network and found it and install the
drivers. I printed the test page and worked good, as soon i wanted to print
a document from microsoft word, nothing happened

Any help here?

And how is that answering my question?

Try.... go to control panel... switch to classic view.... add hardware.
choose select from a list. click iee1284.4 compatible printer (choose and
install iee1284 compatible printer). next click iee1284.4 devices (choose
and install usb printer support). In device manager you should now have in
the usb section a entry "usb printer support". Now go back to printers in
teh control panel... add printer.. when it asks for what type of port
connection choose "virtual printer port"... HP should be in the list of
printers in the next step, try one closest to your model or use the 990c.
do a test print. This is off the top of my head so if there's another way
maybe someone else will chime in.

Peter,

Well that makes sense and I tried it, but after I select what to install,
(ieee 1284.2 printer or devices) a dialog pops up asking me to select the
driver but there are none to select. The box remains empty. Maybe Microoft
forgot to include them LOL. If you know where they are located either on my
HD or the DVD I have that would help alot.

Thanks for helping. this is very frustrating....I know, I know it's still a
BETA but it I wouldn't think something like setting up a printer should be
this hard.

Thanks again

Alas it's not MS's fault, but HP's. okay not sure if this'll work but its
the hard way.. hmmmm. Use the XP drivers again ( I know, they don't work)...
after you've tried that, go into dev manager and with luck you'll have the 2
IEE entries (if you have a third with something like HPGP11 I'm not sure
this'll work). The IEE compatible printer will say it's a photosmart XXXX or
something, do a update driver, select from list and choose IEE compatible
printer. The IEE Devices, do the same except choose usb printer support. If
that doesn't work, I'm stumped. I know it took me a few tries to get my
photosmart 7150 to work.

Peter,

No luck with the ieee drivers showing up. I do now have USB Printing
support and a USBNULL HP008 entry with officejet 6100 (DOT4PRINT) under it.
The office jet entry has a yellow question mark. I tried to update drivers
but it says everything is up to date.

I just don't understand why I get no list of HP printers when I try and
install the 990C. There are no cannon drivers either. There are a bunch of
odd ball names and a couple Lexmark and Dell but no HP. Really wierd.

Thanks for trying for me. Maybe HP will do something soon or I guess I have
to go back to XP. (What a pain that will be). LOL
