ive been trying to install a dvdrw, anew modem and a usb2
card, none have been recognised by the hardware wizard.
when i enter the device manager the page is blank,i need
help please.
The DVD-RW needs drivers that should be on the CD that came with it. Plug in
the DVD-RW, pop the CD in your CD-ROM drive, and if it doesn't auto-run, open
it in My Computer and read the ReadMe file. Also make sure the drive is
properly jumpered as Slave or Master (depending on whether it's on its own
controller or plugged in with another device on the same cable.)
The modem probably also needs a driver, and again, CD should have come with
it. You don't say what kind it is, but AFAIK, W2K supports only plain vanilla
56K modems.
W2K does not have USB2 support, you will have to download the driver for
that. I don't where to get it, but googling "USB2 support Windows 2000"
should find a few websites to start from. Or go to support.microsoft.com and
Search fro USB2 support there.
NB that you will probably have to reboot after each driver is installed.
Don't install them all at once, do one at a time. And do one device at a
time, too, it's a lot easier to troubleshoot one new device at a time.
