My desktop info:
Sony Vaio Desktop.. About 120GB Harddrive, Windows XP home edition and more.

Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor says the best edition is the Windows Vista
Home Basic. I clicked on the Home Premium (the one that I purchased) and it
gave me no errors and all green checkmarks so good to go, right?
Originally, factory-install.. the partitions of my hard drive is C-Drive =
15GB and D-Drive = 92GB. I switched it to C-Drive = 60GB and the rest D Drive.
I reinstalled Windows XP and received all the updates to windows. I ran
Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor and it said I can run Windows Vista.
I receive no errors during installation but after the last reboot to finally
get to Windows Vista, I receive "The installation was not successful."
Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?
Is there a chance that it could be the software?

Did the Upgrade Advisor warn you of any incompatible programs? All
antivirus, antispyware, burning programs such as Nero, and similar should be
uninstalled before attempting the upgrade. Also disconnect any external
devices, apart from monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Have you checked with the Sony website as to whether they have Vista drivers
for your particular model?

Dear Jane C,

Upgrade Advisor only warned me about 3 programs
* DVGate Plus
* Windows Messenger 5.1
* ATI Control Panel

The night that I purchased the Windows Vista, I used my recovery disk to
return it back to factory-installed. It doesn't have a lot of programs like
anti-virus right now.
I am going to install Windows Vista right now without all the other devices
like printer and speakers and internet. I do not have anything else that was
plugged in.
Is it going to hurt that the internet is connected?

Should I be using upgrade or clean install?
I tried doing the upgrade with only the monitor, keyboard, and mouse and the
install didn't work.
