No Eject option for CD

For some reason I lost the eject option on the CD right
click menu. Tried to copy a shortcut from My Computer to
the desktop, but when I select the eject option from the
pull down menu, I get a window asking that I insert a CD.
Can anyone help me to restore the eject option? Thanks

I have noticed another anonomoly with the issue I have

re. the eject option for the desktop CD icon. When I go
to open or explore, I get a window for My Computer, not
the CD contents. The same thing is happening for my
floppy drive. These issues only happened after I
downloaded the latest XP and office security updates.
Any connection?
