no drives after update

after i update windows xp and them reboot, my computer
does not reconize any of my cd drives. only my hard
drive. why? i try to do the system restore and it won't
let me. i need help!

MS #314060. It's probably a filter problem.

if you updated the HIGHTMAT SUPPORT IN CD WRITING WIZARD ( KB831240 ) off of windows updates
i had to remove the update under add and remove programs and rebot to get mine running again
hope your will do the same
