Recently my computer went on the fritz, and I can no longer use the speakers.
No matter what I do, there is no sound. I tried to update the driver..had a
yellow question mark and said no driver - could not find anything on Windows
website. I uninstalled it so I could try to find a program that would install
the necessary drivers, but I am frustrated. I tend to know more about
computers than the average person, but I don't know much. Just the basics. I
figured the best idea would be to come on here and ask for your help..so
please, please help me!! Ahh! Thanks in advance..

The drivers come from the manufacturer of your soundcard and they are free.
Go to their website for the free download.

Unfortunately, I do not know who the manufacturer is. How do I find out? The
tower was built by some little local company, though I don't know what the
company's name is. I aquired the information from the person I got it from.
Thank you for your help!

At least open the box and see what sound card (onboard?) you have.
You might also try to install one of the generic drivers that come with XP
via AddNewHardware or DriverUpdate utilities.

Michael - I will try to open it - I have done it a few years ago when I took
the power source box thing out for a friend. Thank you for your suggestions.
Neither Add New Hardware nor Update Driver functions pick anything up for it.
AHHH! Thank you again!
