I have WIN XP Media Edition and It will not surf the web
at all either on dial up or broadband. NO DNS resolution
on any adapter. Have tried it DHCP and STATIC assigned on
my broadband and it will not work . I tried to dial up and
It connects but no dns resolution . I can ping ip
addresses on the internet on broadband or dialup but no
dns resolution.

Any sugesstions short of reformatting the machine. I have
tried all the standard avenues to correct this problem
uninstall and reload adapters, networking components ,
etc.

.....ANY IDEAS??

Can you post a little bit more information, please? See below:

Can you ping your DNS servers?

If you use nslookup can you resolve names?
Open a command prompt
Type nslookup and press enter
Type the fully qualified domain name (www.yahoo.com or google.com will
work)

Check for extra stuff registered in the winsock protocol stack (some spyware
does this and can muck with things)
Open msinfo32.exe
Expand Components->Network and click on Protocol
Scroll through the list on the right side. You are looking for anything
with a name that starts with anything besides "MSAFD" or "RSVP". This
includes things that start with "XXX over MSAFD", etc. If in doubt, just
post back the whole list (Edit->select All, Edit->Copy).

Can you post the results of ipconfig /all?
