there is no error tone, no error code. I change the ram but no
solution.

When no display shows on the monitor, the first test
should be the monitor. Substitution is simplest, i.e.
lug the monitor over to Charlie's and see whether his
PC boots up OK with your monitor, then borrow
Charlie's to test your PC.

Or just press the monitor's power switch on & off. I had a problem
with my old 19 lcd where the main power switch powers the computer
& everything else but the monitor; evidently the monitor had gone
into sleep mode & wouldn't wake up at times.

Took me a while to figure that one out; but went & got a new 22" monitor
& kept the 19" for the laptop

Sometimes it's the vid card. The case might be bent and the card
might not seat correctly. Some cases are so screwed up that you
can't screw in the card or it pulls out of the AGP slot. If that
doesn't help, I'd simplify by taking out all the other cards. The
fact that it sits and waits for a time before booting (you are
telling by the sounds I suppose), suggests that there is some video
based error, some error at least.

Here's an idea that any state can run with if it thinks it makes
sense. How about when times are good, instead of expanding the
state's budget so much, which just makes it harder to pay for when
times get bad again, start to get ahead of the curve by saving.
Eventually you could have a quarter then half a year and then
finally an entire budget year of funds socked away drawing interest
and ready for spending. You'd know what you had and wouldn't have
to estimate. What a concept!

OK, tough to follow that. But if you mean:
- Press power switch, system appears to come on, but there is no beep and
no video until ...
- Unplug computer for 20-30 minutes, and then system powers up fine
until...
- On reboot, there is no video...

Then you've got a power supply that is failing. All components work more
efficiently when they are "cold" (room temp.) That's why unplugging the
computer for 20-30 minutes makes a difference. -Dave
