How have you tesed the monitor? Did you disable the onboard video when
you connected new card? Have you tried resetting the BIOS?
Mike..

How can he do that when the computer doesn't POST? Lots of people assume
that a computer is booting normally because they see lights and hard disk
activity. But lack of video is usually caused by a mainboard that doesn't
POST. The boot sequence is roughly:
1) Power switch (momentary) is pressed
2) Power supply (on). At this step, LEDs usually light, and disk activity
can be seen/heard.
3) Power good signal (sent from power supply to mainboard)
4) CPU runs Mainboard POST (power on self test)
5) (if mainboard POST goes OK) Video card/adapter is initialized
6) Video displays on monitor, showing POST information, memory checks, etc.
7) various sources are searched for an OS to boot
8) OS boots (usually this means Windows loads from a hard drive)

Note that video on the monitor is WAY down that list.

To disable onboard video, the OP would have to get to step 6, but he's most
likely stuck at step 3 or 4. -Dave

after the bleeps do you have to press the power button twice before it
starts? change the monitor.
