When the computer is turned on there is no display. I've
tried swapping the monitor cable, video card, monitor, and
even the power supply because I noticed that one of the
cooling fans wasn't working (I thought maybe the power
supply wasn't giving enough juice to the system-let me
know if this is an erroneous assumption). No even the
bios shows up when starting. The cpu fan powers on, the
Power Led lights up and that's all I can see happening.

Could there be other causes to this besides the mobo being
dead; like a bad cpu or ram?

Bad CPU and RAM are both possibilities, and I would check them both. Also,
try a CMOS reset. You should have a jumper, a button, or a switch on your
motherboard that will allow you to reset your CMOS. If not, unplug the
machine and remove the battery from the motherboard for at least 30 seconds,
replace it, and reboot.

Mike is right on target, but do you hear any beeping when you first turn the
system on? Most motherboards will emit 'beep codes' if there's some sort of
low level issue like bad CPU, RAM, etc.
