No disk or folder properties after Service Pack 4 or 3 install

I run a dual boot system with windows 2000 pro and windows xp pro both on different NTFS partitions, I recently installed service pack 3 for the win 2000 pro, after install I checked the disk properties within computer management, but nothing happened, No Properties. I tried to get properties within explorer for the folders but again no properties for the folder. I uninstalled and I was able to do the above. I installed Service pack 4 but the same problem persisted, so I just uninstalled the service pack and it was fine again. I have came across this behaviour on two other totally different machines before

I thought that the security had been tightened after the service packs install and that group policy may be the problem, but I could not find anything related, but I may have been looking in the wrong place

Can someone help.

I'm sorry, I meant to ask if you have Norton Antivirus installed. I had the
same symptoms as you last year and noticed that it usually happened when NAV
was loading services after startup, which was taking an unusually long time
(as much as ten minutes). After reinstalling NAV both problems solved
themselves...the services were loaded straight away and I got back
right-click access to file/folder properties.
