I have been using my dv camera and firewire with no problems for a year (have
had SP2 since it came out) And all of a sudden, it seems to have stopped
talking to the camera. Nothing has been moved, everything is still connected,
the camera works on someoen elses machine, and i've tried a different cable,
so its neither of them.

Have also uninstalled the 1394, and then let XP find it and reinstall it.
Device manager (as usual) says its working properly, its just not 'seeing'
the camera (have tried through 3 different programmes, so its not a software
issue either)

The only thing i can think of, is I have run a number of spyware / adaware
type programmes to get rid of some nasty problems i had, and am now wondering
if they maybe deleted something they shouldnt have?

am entirely open to any suggestions, as its driving me mad!!!!

cheers

I just experienced the same exact problem! I've been using my
camcorder for video editing for a few years now, and Windows has always
worked plug-and-play with it. It even worked a few times with Windows
XP SP2, but then suddenly XP stopped recognizing my camera. I bought a
new cable, a new 1394 card, but it hasn't started working again. It's
odd because Windows will recognize my video camera when I connect my
camcorder to my computer via my USB port. It just doesn't like
firewire anymore. Can anybody help?
