No Desktop

hi all

Today i turned my computer on and logged in. after i
realised it had finished although none of the desktop or
toolbar had loaded. i tried logging out, restarting and
turning of and turning on again. If anyone can tell me
how to get my desktop back.
 
when I turn on my computer my icons are only there for a minute then disappear. How do I get them to stay there
 
Try this, after you log on and are in, hit
ctrl+alt+delete this should bring up the task manager.
Then alt+F then N, now type in explorer.exe then OK..
If this does not work it may produce an error message
that might help solve the underlying problem.

Right click the center of the desktop and click on
arrange icons by, then click show desktop icons.

Same problem here. Explorer.exe isn't showing up in the task list. When I run it the task bar flashes on the bottom and disappears. I'll keep looking, but not sure how to fix this.
