No Desktop and Start Menu

My Windows XP Professional just went off and when i
rebooted it does not load anything it just shows my
desktop background.There are no icons no start menu
bar.The only thing i can access is Task Manager.My
account is the adminstrator account.The other two limited
accounts have everything.How best can i get my Windows
back to Normal.

Item No. 195 (right column), click on "Restore Desktop Icons and
Taskbar".

Install the registry fix, then reboot your computer.

I have the same problem as everyone else. But for some reason, the fix didn't work. I don't know what to do. When the window pops up I click okay, and then it tells me there is an error running some scripts. I can run some programs through my task manager, but some internet based programs (instant messengers, etc.) don't work properly. Also, I can't log into any of my email accounts, and even though I can get online, my favorites window does not show anything. The problem all occured after I was online one day and my laptop went into hibernate on its own; when I started my computer again, all of my desktop icons and my taskbar disappeared. My OS is Windows XP professional, I brought the laptop from an online auction, and I didn't recieve a restore disk or anything to reload the OS.
