no defender in start-programs.....

I read the problem related to the icon on systray but in my PC (XPHome) there
isn't no sign of Windows Defender. It was installed and upgraded in right way
without problem but no icons,no link in START, no reference in control panel.
But the program is running as reported from Task Manager. If I launch it
manually from it folder, all is ok.
 
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative tools, Services,

In there is Windows Defender Service running? That's where I see it at...
 
I try to re run the install over the existent without success.I tried to
uninstall and reinstall it again deleting all keys in registry (I have
monitored during the installation the key added) but no success.
As I told before the service is running and in task manager there are the 2
defender processes. The program run ok;when detect a change it ask to me, If
I launch it manually from folder all is ok.
Any other idea?
 
I finally resolved this issue.
My installation was an upgrade from an italian localized version. This has
caused that the Defender start link was (correctly) in all user/programs
while to keep old applications links, I'm using all users/programmi.This was
the reason why I did'nt see the link.
Sorry for this.
 
The missing link in start is a known issue with non-english versions of
windows.

You can create your own link to:

\program files\windows defender\msascui.exe
