No date shown when you do a scan

Are your daily scans in the early hours of the morning? My experience has
been that the status page shows "today" on the date of the scan, but switches
to a true date starting the next day. I scan on M-W-F, so I can see this.

If your scans are daily and say 3am, you may never be awake to see anything
other than "today". If that is your scenario and you want to test it, switch
the scaan time to 11pm. Then look at the status page the next morining. I
think it will show the previous day's date.

Follow this sequence (at least this is it in XP): control panel, performance
& maintenance, scheduled tasks, advanced, view hidden tasks. "MP scheduled
scan" should appear. Double click on that, and in the window that opens,
select the "schedule" tab. What you get should look like the scheduler in
the beta 1 product. You can pick your days there.

I wasn't sure what would happen if I disabled the schedule in WD "settings".
I want it to look for updates. So, I left Wed there, and scheduled Mon and
Fri in the task scheduler. Note: the status page of WD will only show the
schedule that's set directly in WD (Wed, in my case), but all of the
scheduled scans will run.

Brian,

Here's an update. It looks like the Windoes Task Scheduler will override
whatever is scheduled by WD. My Wed am scan (scheduled in WD) didn't run
this morning. So, I opened WTS, added Wed to the choices, and set it to run
an hour later. The scan ran as requested, and at the same time, installed
the new definition file that my system downloaded last night.

Hope this helps.

That's an interesting detail: So you had a new definition file downloaded
but not installed?

And the process of scanning, with the checkbox for "check for updated
definitions before scanning" checked, did the install?

Exactly as you have described it. No intervention from me, except to
schedule the scan.

I have WU set to download only. I could see the yellow shield in the
systray early this morning, and from posts here yesterday, I knew there was a
new def file. As soon as the scan ran, the shield was gone, and the new def
version was noted on the WD status page.

That's good to know. There've been several posts where the user wants these
defs applied automatically, but wants approval on all other updates. It
sounds like that really is what happens, if you let it sit 'til a scan is
scheduled.
