I've posted this before but never got a workable reply so i'll try again.

Motherboard P4S533, randomly on boot I'll get this female voice telling me
"no cpu installed" but windows then proceeds to load & everthing works
normal. I used to find the voice somewhat sexy but now it's downright
annoying. I've the latest BIOS installed but the problem hasn't gone away.
Anyone? TIA

oh, and disabling "post speech reporter" in BIOS doesn't shut her up.

I had a somewhat simliar experience.

Brand new a7n8x deluxe, xp 2600 using Corsair ram.
At every boot I'd get "System failed cpu test" but windows xp would load up.
Shutting off the POST Reporter did nothing...she kept nagging. On top of that
the onboard sound refused to work so I RMA'd the board.

New board works like a charm.

MHO, RMA the board & hope the replacement runs as advertised.

Hmm. I admit that this may strike you as marginally useless feedback,
but...

When I fired up my [new] system the first couple of times, I also thought
the voice was kinda sexy. And this was *despite the fact that, on a few
occasions, she informed me that the memory had failed. (Although it always
booted right up). However, after creating this very fast system from the
ground up...my primary goal was to let my wife assume that it was the same
old system...just in a different case.

Miss POST would have blown my cover, in the event that the Mrs. ever had to
reboot. So I disabled her - Miss POST, not the Mrs. - and mercifully, she
obeyed. And, except for that "swapping" issue with the center channel,
(which I finally solved after coming across that little utility from Asus)
the sound has always been first rate.

A7N8X Deluxe v2
3000+/400
1024GB Kingston 2.5
Radeon 9200
various SATA, PATA and OP drives

So I guess P@ntera is right.

Please post a follow-up.

Suppose it could get on your nerves, but if it is that bad and the bios does
not work, then your only option I could see is to disable the speakers.

If it uses a pc speaker, disconnect it and/or do not switch on any external
speakers until after the system has booted up. Only problem would then be
that you would not hear any post error messages if you were to get any.

Totally disable the speech reporter, not just the "post" you will get NO
voice then, if you have problems later and need it you can always re-enable.
Mine on occasion reports "system failed memory test, now booting from OS"
and then works perfectly. So I just got rid of the voice all together.
Good Luck,
Bitsbucket

There's no option in the BIOS to completely disable speech reporter, only
"post" speech reporter. Thanks anyway, I think i'll just have to live with
it.
