Every few times, when I boot up, I have to unplug the modem before I can get
on line. Sometimes I get a message on the bottom line that my connection is
weak or nonexistent. Does anyone know why this happens?

Claire, if the modem is provided by your Internet Service Provider then
call them and ask for a new one.

You may have a signal strength problem rather than a bad modem if you are
talking about a cable modem. Cable modems use a narrow band in the cable
signal. You can have good cable TV signal but a poor internet signal.

If you do have a cable modem call your cable company to get a tech out to
measure the signal strength. Not only can the signal be too low it can also
be too high.

If you have a Motorola cable modem you can download diagnostic software from
Motorola's website.

Weak connection???? Are you using some type of wireless networking
router or modem?
