No boot or monitor output/input since changing CPU

Hardware is all OEM., WinXP Homeon 80G hard drive, 210 W power supply, only
add-in card is a Linksys Wireless-G PCI card. It was running with a 2GHz
Celeron@400MHz FSB w/a SiS 651 Chipset. Chipset supports 533MHz FSB.
Everything was functioning fine b4 I swapped the 2GHz Celeron with a 3.06GHz
[email protected] is ALL I did. From that point on I get no post beep
nad not output/input to the monitor. I tried switching baclk to the 2GHz
chip, still the same. Any ideas as to what may b wrong?
 
It sounds like the MBD is toast. New CPU may have been bad, or installed
incorrectly.
Check everything that you might have disturbed.
The power supply is a bit small.
 
Chuck, I disturbed absolutely nothing but the CPU fan/heatsink & CPU itself.
I did not need to move or remove anything in this process. CPU was put in
correctly. I even put the original CPU back in it, and still nothing. It
still powers up, rear fan still spins...so I don't think the MB is damaged.
And it was working absolutely fine b4 I did the swap. As far as the power
supply being abit small...it is original OEM ps, and I'm sure the 1 GHz jump,
especially from a Celeron chip, is not that much more taxing on the ps. I
could b wrong, though.
 
Start from scratch. Remove everything that can possibly be removed. All you
want hooked up is the motherboard, CPU, memory, graphics card, keyboard and
monitor. Reseat the memory in the sockets.. Reset the CMOS with the jumper
on the motherboard. Physically disconnect everything else from both the
motherboard and the power supply. Power up and see if you get a display. If
you do great. Start adding things back in one at a time, testing after each
item is added. When it doesn't power up then either that item is bad or
you've reached the limit of your power supply. If it doesn't start up with
just the minimum installed then one of the items hooked up is the culprit.
In order of likelihood from what you have described: motherboard, CPU,
memory, power supply, monitor, keyboard.
