Hello

I've two partition on my hard disk - C:\ has got Vista on it while on
D:\ I just installed Windows 2000.

On boot system goes straight to Windows 2000 without asking for boot
options for both of the operating systems.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance for your help

Kappa

If you have just installed Windows 2000 it has more than likely over written
the Vista boot record. take a look at this link:

Hi Kappa--

When you are dual booting, the rule is to always install the legacy OS
first--and you didn't. You will often as John said, overwrite the Vista
boot record if you install Vista first.

You will probably get help from these KB as well as using Vista Boot Pro to
straighten things out:

Windows Vista no longer starts after you install an earlier version of the
Windows operating system in a dual-boot configuration

You cannot start Windows XP after you install Windows Vista in a dual-boot
configuration together with Windows XP

Vista Boot Pro

Good luck,

CH

Chad I much prefer to use VistaBootPro rather than EasyBCD but the EasyBCD
article was easiest to find. I was hoping to put instructions about this
problem on my website but, although I have the notes written I've been a
little busy of late so have not had time to finalise the article.

Thanks Rock. I did have the details saved but, having been doing a little
housekeeping, I think I must have deleted the details.

Hi Kapp

Boot up with your Vista DVD and after you get past
the language selection you will have a choice of "repair"

Just do the "repair" and the Vista bootmanager entries
will be restored.
