Can someone help me for some unknown reason I have 2 floppy drives & no
backup program in XP Pro.
It says in My Computer Floppy A & Floppy B
Any ideas people

Hi,

a) Check your BIOS settings on the dual floppy drives.

b) Ntbackup is not installed by default in a WinXP Home installation. If the
system was preinstalled, you may or may not have it available to you (it's
optional, not a required part of the system).

Hi I have XP Pro and been running for a year now with one floppy just today
or yesterday I noticed a second drive. I did have a backup program before
now when I click on it I get a small white empty box if I click it I says
not responding

Hi,

Usually if the B floppy drive is showing, there has been a change made in
the BIOS that that causes it, check settings before doing anything else. It
may be something as simple as a namespace entry in the registry that needs
to be deleted.

As to Ntbackup, follow the steps in the article to reinstall it. Either the
file itself or a supporting file is likely corrupt.

I have XP Pro and I cannot find the ntbackup.msi file. Is it called
something different or can I get it somewhere else?
Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

It's not an msi (installer) file, it's simply an .exe file and if it is
missing you can expand a new one from the I386 folder on the CD.

Hi,

Easiest way is to run msconfig from a start/run prompt and use the button on
the general tab. The most recent version is usually in the Service Pack
Files backup, not on the CD, but either can be used.

File to expand: ntbackup.exe
From: C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386
To: C:\Windows\system32
