Since upgrading from w98 to wxp pro Creative Soundblaster
no longer works. Identified during upgrade as
incompatible, but none of the driver updates I've gotten
from Creative have done anygood at all. Help?

Use device manager to remove the sound card and reboot, if
you have installed the correct drivers, they should be
detected and installed.

If the hardware showed up in the upgrade report as incompatible, then
unfortunately it is known not to work with XP. This generally happens with
older hardware that is no longer supported by the manufacturer... I'm not
sure how old your particular card may be, but you may have no option but to
invest in a new one.

I upgraded from 98SE to Win XP Home. Upgrade adviser told me to
uninstall all Creative software before the upgrade. My Sound Blaster 5.1
Xgamer sound card works with the drivers from within Widows XP. However, I
can't use any of the software that came with it because the upgrade
downloads on the Creative web site only upgrade the software that is already
installed but I can't install the Win 98 version of Play Centre etc. I
called Creative support and they mailed me a CD however, the CD is stripped
of much of the 3rd party software to the point that the install routine wont
run period. So I'm no further ahead. My advice is buy another sound card
complete with XP compatable drivers.
