I had to reinstall XP on a new drive. The Media Player worked fine on my
other drive. But in the Sounds and Audio section it says No Audio Device. I
never installed 1 before because it's on the MB. I also never had to install
software. So does anyone have any solutions or things to try?

Make sure the sound device is turned on in the motherboard BIOS
settings.

Check with the motherboard manufacturer for any and all drivers,
especially that for the chipset, that may help Windows to see its
built-in devices.

That was the problem. I'd never given any thought that, since I replaced the
HD and the Media Player was on the XP OS disc, the driver would be also. But
since the device was on the MB, I got out the manual and it told me there
were alot of useful drivers on the MB cd. Popped in the cd and there was the
sound driver and just the small matter of loading it. Thanks Nil.
