The sound get lost when I save the file to avi using DV-AVI (PAL).

The sound is good in Movie Maker but no more when I play the avi-file in
MediaPlayer. When I open the file MediaPlayer searching for a codec but
don't succeed. Can that be the problem? Solution?

Hello Mats,

Do you have a 3rd party DV encoder or decoder on your machine?
What DVD burning software do you have on your machine? this is likely a
conflict.
You could try uninstalling your DVD burning applications one by one until
functionality returns and then reinstalling to ensure you have isolated the
problem.
Please let us know your findings!

Hi Warren. The problem is still remaining with Movie Maker. The produced
avi-file has no sound. (in Mediaplayer 9)

I have worked around it by using Premiere Pro (tryout - 29 days left...) to
export to avi and it works fine - now the sound is working! (in Mediaplayer
9)

Then to burn a dvd is no problem...

Hi there,

I'm surprised one of the MVP's did not advise you to go to this link

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4e-a2ae-4f22-93ea-287753c52926&DisplayLang=en

and analyse the Media side of your setup) The results take a bit of reading
unfortunately. It may highlight your problem (which is very likely to be a
Codec issue) If you did not already know, it is not necessarily an audio
Codec that is the problem. For want of a better expression, Confusion in the
system at the video level can and often does screw up the audio. There is
one specific case where you end up with the frequency of the sound is
usually increased but can be decreased, making men sound like women etc.

Anyway, grab the program and run it. watch for where the resulting file is
saved, if you cannot decipher it then send it to me via the contacts page
at my web site, and I will see if I can spot where things are going wrong
for you, I make no guarantees mark you :))
