hey. i have the same exact problem as you. i have my tv tuner hooked up to
my vcr. i get sound when i play it in the media center, but not when i am
using movie maker.
I'M HAVING A SIMULAR PROBLEM, I HAVE A NEW DELL WITH XP MEDIA EDITION THE TV
TUNER WORKS GREAT WITH MEDIA CENTER BUT IN MOVIE MAKER THERE IS NO SOUND AT
ALL WHILE VIEWING OR RECORDING, BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY I'VE CHANGED EVERY
POSSIBLE AUDIO SETTING! I JUST HAVE THE CABLE HOOKED DIRECTLY TO MY TV TUNER.
PLEASE HELP
THANKS CHUCK
Please turn off your CapsLock.
The "analog" type connection you are talking about rarely works with Movie
Maker.
I recommend capturing with the software that came with the computer for the
tuner card and converting to AVI (assuming the capture is to MPG which it
usually is for analog devices) to use with Movie Maker.
If I understand this correctly wmc uses DVR-MS for a file type not MPG?
Therfore I need a conversion software and what I'm finding out almost all the
TV stations have there programs copy protected? Is there any software for
this type file conversion that is better than others as far as copy
protection is conserned. Thanks
thank you wojo...it was good advice for me
i bought an avermedia card bus for the express purpose of capturing all my
vhs tapes of family etc before the tapes disintegrate or the vcr fails and is
irreplaceable.
i spent hours trying to get sound with no luck...the video played well.
i couldn't think of any way to test the card which i thought may have been
faulty but i did try another tape that i knew had sound for sure with the
same result.
in desperation i put a search on movie maker and found this forum...lucky me
i can now do what i set out to do...great advice from all
now i have to determine which is the best video codec to get most bang for
buck and i see papajohn has a great page with heaps of interesting stuff,
heading there now to learn thanks to you both
