No audio or web cam

On my Bro. machine (windows xp) Messenger ormsn messenger wont work with the web cam or audio functions
Can contact and talk on win 98 machine but not on the xp machine. Has both windows mess.and msn mess. installed
Help
 
Check your setups in the sound and video system What happens when you run
the Wizard, what do you select as the source for input and output?

No that is not normal, it indicated that your system is misconfigured.
Double click the little sound icon in your system tray and then select
Options/Properties and make sure the mic is NOT checked in the playback and
IS checked in the recording mode. If you do not know how to do this, ask an
techie and they will give you the steps.

Hi,
What if the wizard says it can't be run now? I have found
several people with the same problem but no sollution.
There is no other error message or indication why it
can't be run. Reinstallation of directx doesn't help.
Same in Windows and MSN messenger. Any suggestions?
