Hello, when I capture a video clip from my new SAMSUNG camcorder to my new Acer Laptop (XP Home Edition) using Firewire, audio is missed, even though the camcorder's loudspeaker and my television can play the audio. Some weeks ago I could capture all clips including audio with no problems. When I capture again one of these old videos from another Mini DV tape, it still works, audio is captured. I checked my camcorder's menu and could find only 3 settings which may affect audio recording:
- 16 bit (but cannot change it)
- Audio Sel: Sound 1, Sound 2, Mix
- Rec Mode: SP, LP
Could I have changed by accident a camcorder setting, so that the video was recorded in a different mode, and which does not alow now to capture the audio from the tape?

Thanks in advance for any answer,

It seems to me I found the reason. When I record with 16 bit Audio instead of 12 Bit, then I cannot capture the audio with the Moviemaker 1.1.
Is there an updated version of MM available, which can capture video clips recorded with 16 bit audio ?
Or is there another way to solve my problem?

I did some further tests and found out with another Camcorder (CANON), that video clips with 16Bit audio can be captured. This means that the SAMSUNG has a problem, which is confirmed also by another posting in this forum and a Q+A on a SAMSUNG website. Some SAMSUNG models have a bug, which can be fixed by an ACS. This probably does not help me with the videos which were recorded already, because the bug is on the recorded tape now. When I use the tape from the SAMSUNG in my CANON camcorder, audio can't be captured either.

With my Samsung DV cam, when capturing, sound emits from the camera but not through PC. However, on playback all is fine.
