I uploaded several tapes to moviemaker that worked fine.
Now, when I try to upload a movie from the same camera, I get the picture
but no sound. It looks like clips are in the timeline, but don't play sound.
I have no other sound problems with my computer.
I had IE7 installed. I have uninstalled and gone back to IE6, but it didn't
help.
HELP!

Try doing a system restore to
a time before you installed IE7.

I did that too. I restored the moviemaker folder.

You did a system restore as
described in the following article?

Is there a way to reinstall moviemaker?

Maybe the following articles will offer
some ideas:

Bad Installation Of Movie Maker 2.1

What can I do if I upgrade to Windows
XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?

Or...try reinstalling WinXP SP2:

Download Windows XP SP2
http://tinyurl.com/6ubys

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

Why did this work in October but no longer works?
Can ANYBODY give me a reason?
I have tried everything suggested.
USB connection is all I have and worked before.

It's not clear to me that you did a
system restore...did you try it?

You see a lot of posts about audio problems with Movie Maker but not this
particular problem.

In reading the thread it looks like you connect via USB and were able to
import before with video but now it no longer works?

You tried a system restore with no luck.
You reinstalled SP2 with no luck.

How about trying a more obvious possibility. Try a different USB cable
and/or a different USB port.
Also try importing onto a friends computer to see if the problem is your
computer hardware or software or not.

I did those things too.
I finally resolved the problem by installing a firewire board! That works
great.

That is absolutely the best thing to do. I 'ass'u'me'd that had already been
suggested. :-)
