I had to format the hardrive on my laptop and reload XP. All went well until
I tried to use the media player and there was no sound. I checked in 'Device
Manager" and no driver. Can someone tell me where I can get the driver?

Go to the manufacturers site. Pity you're too lazy to tell us the brand &
model or we could do it all for you.

If you have a cd that came with the laptop, the driver shoul be there.
Sound and display drivers are basics that are provided normally.

Just a thought, but is your sound card and your modem one and the same or
maybe the sound is on the motherboard? I used to have a lot of problems with
these combo cards, but they were pretty old and this was with Win98. Even
with a 6 year old HP though, I removed ME and installed WinXP pro which
picked up the combo sound and modem card with no problems.
You may want to try driverguide.com
