no audio device

I just install windows xp on my new computer and when I
tried to play music, there's no sound. I check the control
panel for sound and it said "no audio device" ~ even
though i have my speakers turned on and connected
properly. Can someone please help me?

Goto control panel
click on System
find and click on device manager
populate Sounds, video and game controlers
uninstall your best guess to what your sound card driver
is and reboot windows... Follow the directions for
installing the new hardware
