on winxp home, all parts for sb audigy card and drivers
show up in device manager, however, in control panel under
"sound" the words "no audio device" are grayed out and
there is no playback, record, mixer loaded. also message
"drivers loaded but not started within same tab. have tried
all suggestions found on various forums including change of
pci slots, use of plug and play enumerator reload,
different sound card with different chip. in addition, i
get the same "no audio device" using the mobo (ECS k7s5a)
SIS chipset/AC 97.

please assume i have done all the usual stuff, short of
throwing the pc out the window and/or entirely reloading
the OS. all drivers are also current. AMD 2200 chip, 1Gb
RAM, cable modem, using onboard USB ports. have nothing
loaded into PCI slots at present except SB card...ie, no
obvious conflicts.

thanks to all of you in advance for any help you can offer.

Is there anything in the Bios that you have to enabled or disable?
"mdmd" <[email protected]> wrote in message
in the bios i just need to disable onboard sound but there
is no specific thing for a pci sound card. i enable onboard
sound if not using the sb card. but the results are the
same with either sound chip.... :(

thanks for the response.
