I just bought a labtop from my buddy. It has no sound except the little beeps
that come from in the computer. I have no installation cd's that came with
it. It says I have no Audio device. Someone please help.

You will need to identify which audio device is inside of the laptop. The
easiest way to do this is look for the laptops product name and model and do
a Google search (http://www.google.com) to find out hardware information
about the laptop.

Or if you prefer you could post the information here and myself or someone
else could look it up and help you out further on this issue.

I hope this information helps you, and have a nice day.

No audio device means there is no soundcard installed either as a PCI
card or onboard (mobo). Check all the ports on the LAPTOP and see
if there is a port to plug in external speakers, if not, that means no
soundcard
or audio device except for internal beeps.

I have same problem - I know I have a soundcard installed - computer crashed,
and windows media player is just not happening! Lost all music files
etc.....No sound whatsoever - not even computer beeps.......getting
frustrated with all the jargon I am reading in the support stuff, but comes
up everytime no audio device - I dont know what it was to start with - am on
windows xp edition - have discs etc am technologically challenged.....HELP
please anyone would be great.....(dont laugh too hard)

Hey all, same proble, could it be a problem with the HKCP or the hkey or
whatever, maybe the svc host, or bus controller, how would one "KNOW" that i
need to get a sound card to replace the integrated ac 97 souns?
