no audio device?

First, some punctuation and sentence structure would have been nice.

Did you download the latest drivers for your audio card from the
manufacturers website?
If so, did you install those drivers?
If so, what errors are you getting?

After your friend's dad reformatted and reinstalled your O/S, did he bother
to install the motheboard chipset drivers?

I have the same kind of problem...except my HD wasn't formated...my
master HD was missing files for windows, so I chose to get a very small
HD and install winXP to that and install my master HD as a slave.
Success, but there is no sound, it seems to be that one of the audio
devices can not start(code 10). I went to device manager and tried
updating it, but they couldn't find anything "better". The
manufacturer of these audio devices are system standards, so it should
be on the mother board?I tried things with the WinXP disc, but notihng.
usually, doesn't it check if the audio is working or not during the
setup?there wasn't anything like that...which was weird...please, help
me...and the other guy
