i recently installed my copy of windows xp (home) on a macbook given to me by
a friend (no discs available) and althought the progams are working fine,
there is no sound (even at start-up) and the device manager says "no audio
device" present. can anyone tell me what drivers i need?

Check the BIOS & make sure the settings allow for the hardware to
operate. Also, with all boards, the chipset installation utility usually makes
it possible for the OS to activate the boards hardware,USB included..Get the
utility from the MB hardware mfg (intel,amd,etc)...

The manufacturer os this "pc" is Apple. The OP is attempting to run
XP Home on a MacBook. Check with Apple.
