Hello,

one of my customer has installed a on-board audio device and it´s available
and ready to use in the device manager of windows xp with service pack II.

The sympthom is that the Adobe Player doesn´t play audio but the Real Player
does play audio. There is also no volume controll icon in the system tray
and it is not possible to set the audio device as default device in the
volume controll panel. The device is not shown in the controll panel.

Please give me some hints how to solve that the audio device is available in
the volume controll in the control panel and audio is possible in the Adobe
Player. Thank you.

yours faithfully,

Dirk Lehmann

On-board as in on the motherboard or as in a physical Soundcard ? If the
latter, make sure there is no conflict by turning off On-bard sound in the
BIOS.

Start > Control Panel >Sound and Audio Device > make sure "Place Volume Icon
in the Taskbar" is ticked (checked).

Once you have the icon, make sure the correct sliders are up to max and
nothing is muted in Playback.

Open up Adobe Player and make sure nothing is muted in Options.

Hello Jerry,

thank you for reply.

There is not interupt conflict with other device and no mute option enabled
in adobe. The audio device runs without conflicts in the device manager.

Unfortunatly the default audio output device is not shown in the Control
Panel - Sound and Audio Device.

Did you manage to set up the Volume icon ? What type of sound board/card ?

Adobe Player as in Adobe Flash Player ? Its a player for the web, no ?

What type of file is your client trying to play ? Is it supported by this
plug-in ?

Cheers,
Jerry

Jerry,

My issue is similar to Dirk Lehmann's. My Dell has an onboard sound card
and the high definition audio codec is handled by a SigmaTel driver. Sound
is not a problem with Windows Media Player but if I open the Sounds and Audio
Devices Property in Control Panel and click on the Volume tab, I am told "No
audio device". If I go to Sound Playback, the SIgmaTel drvice driver is not
there.

It's vexing problem.
