I recently have lost many of the non-Microsoft programs in
my Start Menu. Also, the top portion of that menu that
used to show "Windows Update" and other shortcuts are
gone. I noticed that in my Documents and Settings
under "Start Menu"that those programs are not there and
only the Microsoft programs are there.

I tried using Wondows Repair from my Windows 2000 disk,
but that didn't fix th problem.

How can i restore all of my programs back into the Start
Menu?

Sure...
Use the ERD and current full back up you have handy when thengs happen like
this.
If you don't have one, try booting into Safe Mode and choose "last known
good configuration"
I don't believe it will work, but you can try.
Just how did you manage to loose all of that.
Does somone else like a school child play with it.?

That looks like it would work if I wanted to add one or
two programs into the Start Menu. However, I lost in
excess of 35+ programs. Isn't there an easier way to
recover those programs back into the start menu?

Looks like I found the problem.
On one of my reboots, Windows 2000 ran Chkdsk and found
errors which it corrected. It moved many of my prgrams and
program folders into a folder called found.000.

I was able to recover them by doing a copy of the program
folder from found.000 and pasting it onto the Programs
Folder in my "Start Menu" under my "Documents and
Settings". I don't understand why this was down by Chkdsk,
but i was able to recover all of my programs and program
folders.

Thanks for your input.
