no AGP solution?

Is there a hack or anyway to get a motherboard without a AGP slot to
accept an AGP card? Perhaps a PCI to AGP adapter? Obviously the speed
wont be there but if the card works well enough it would solve a little
problem I have.

Short of replacing the motherboard I dont know what to do with a machine
with no AGP slot. Well, other than buying an nvidia PCI card. I've seen
these before.

Not that I have ever seen and it is more than getting the AGP card to fit.
The bus speed on a PCI is slower than the AGP speed. I think a MB is in your
future or you have to bite the bullet and buy a PCI card.

No, because the 'thing' that *makes* it an AGP card is missing from the PCI
slot: the memory interface.

The rest of an AGP card, the command interface, *is* PCI (and it's shared
off of the adjacent PCI slot).

yes, but I believe you do not wanna mess with that, forget it & get a
Pci based card ...

I'd love to see a link to one, just to see.

time ago I popped to an electronics site (sorry have no link if still
exists) where from I DL-ed a PCI2ISA converter card schematics
/you never gonna know when you gonna need it style archiveing/, where
as IRC I saw also other type of converter schematics, also PCI2AGP one
if I remember correctly ... not sure if it was ever commercially
available or only datasheet or made on special request ...

Well, I can easily see an ISA to PCI converter but there's no memory port
at all on PCI so there's nothing to 'convert', 'AGP' wise that is.

Now, I can imagine they just 'throw away' the memory port and treat it as
if it were a PCI card but that's not really 'converting' the 'AGP' and
clearly useless for what he has in mind because simply buying a PCI display
card would achieve the same result for a lot less pain and misery.

you can get a fairly fast pci card but that is it.
their are no converters to change pci to agp
only other thing is a new motherboard

sure ...

There is no workaround. You need to buy a motherboard that contains an AGP
slot if you want to use an AGP graphics card.
