no advanced tab in tools, internet options bar

I can't access the advanced tab under th tolls , internet
options selections since it does not exist! I have seen
it befor and on other machines and want to set
preferences so just the most recenty used selection are
listed in favorites and files in favorites rather than the
entire saved websites. Any one know where the advanced
tab went? I have tried redownloading ie6 but no chand.
and i am unable to unistall ie6 but have run the repair
suggested when torying to uninstall using ass/remove
programs in controlpanel
 
You will need to edit the registry.
Make sure you back it up first.
Start menu... run... regedit

HKEY_Current_User
Software
Policies
Microsoft
Internet Control Panel
Make sure all entries are 0 (Zeros!)

This is for IE 5.5 & 6.0 if memory serves, WIN 2K & NT
5.1 & 5.0 as well as XP and Win 98 are slightly different
but if you just search the registry for the KEYS (i.e.
homepage, Security Tab, Check_if_Default) you should be
able to find it. Hope this helps. Ed.
