No activity on Taskbar

Hi,

It happend 3 days before, the minimized program is not maximizing after a
certain time. when I check the task manager/performance all the actions are
simply nothing, I mean no action for CPU, USAGE HISTORY, PF USAGE, PAGEFILE
USAGE HITORY, TOTALS, PHYSICAL MEMORY, COMMIT CHAGE, KERNEL MEMORY - all are
blank there is no activity. I am unbale to do anything - just log off or
restart the pc - how to solve this problem . I have checked with latest
definition of Symantec Client Security, Windows Defender, Spam checker and
also the registry checker - please can some one help me on this - Is this
really a software or Hardware issue?
HP COMPAQ DC 7600 3.4 with 2 Gb Ram WinXP Pro with SP2 with updates.
Please help
