The problem started today. I get the "There are no active mixer devices
available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel.... This program
will now close." I get this message whenever I tried to enter the Volume
Control. Is not my sound card and everything seems to be working fine
according to my device manager there is no warning or attention sign. I can
hear sound, the beeping error sound. I can access my the volume control
during my start up, also, during the start up I get an error saying something
about a host problem and that is when the problem started. The only major
changes I have made are I'd changed my regional and language option to
Japanese in order to play a game. However, the sound was working before until
I started up the computer the next day, which us today. I have changed
regional setting back to ther were. I use system restore a day before I had
installed tha game and made changes to my regional settings, but that didn't
helped at all. I tried google the solution and that was a failure. Can
someone help me.

try running your recovery disc to recover everything like it was new. I have the same problem, but I have to order recover discs, I am waiting on them now, I am sure that will help

I am having the same issue with my 1 month old Sony Vaio. the device mixer
works until the very end of start-up. then it cannot be found even after
reinstalling the driver. I want to try to reformat the entire notebook since
it's new and doesnt have much on it. Were you able to resolve the issue? If
so, please let me know how. Thanks
