Hello,

I just did an in place upgrade on my Dell D620 from XP Pro to Vista
Ultimate. Everything runs fine except for accessing the power options from
the Control Panel. When I try to use one of the applets, I get a very
cryptic error saying "Windows cannot find
'shell:::{26ee066-a00a=44d7-9371-.....\pageGlobalSettings'. Make sure you
have typed the name correctly, and then try again."

I can access the power settings from the command line using Powercfg.

Sounds like the files did not get copied down during the upgrade. Any
ideas?

Thanks,

Doug Knight

how about from
right click on desktop, select personalize
screen saver, then CHANGE POWER PROPERTIES

Thanks for the tip. Tried it and a blank box pops up for a second and goes away.
