Please help. I'm using a D-Link Switch and have
established a network between 2 computers. I'm able to
view the network and the two computers but I continue to
receive an error message as follows whenever I attempt to
access the other computer (via the network). Here's the
message:

\\Network is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

Now, I've purchased books, looked on the internet and
checked newsgroups and I'm unable to locate a solution to
my dilemma. Please, any guidance you can provide would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.

Julie

Details would be nice.. lets start with what operating
systems you are working with ( i will assume at least 1 is
xp pro).

I actually received the same error message today trying to
network XP Home with 98SE. Any suggestions? Also the XP
drive was not showing up on the 98 system. Buy on the XP,
both were appearing but received the earlier error message
from the original post. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Same problem here. Just posted new message about it. The
problem started last week for me.

I have also had this message connecting a new computer
into an existing network.I pinged and struggled all day
to sort it out and finally (after reading a message on
another forum) I found that the antivirus software that
came with the computer (p-cillin) also had a firewall
once I disabled this it worked ok. (also disabled windows
firewall) I use zone alarms firewall because I know how
to configure it. All these extra firewalls are
ridiculous!

Try creating a user in the remote computer that has the
same name and password as user in the other computer.
