Hi

My problem is: The DNS server is not creating/updating records in the forward lookup zone. However these records are created in the reverse zone. Both zones are active directory integrated, the DHCP server is on the same DC as the DNS server and it is configured to updated client information in DNS. The DNS server uses a static ip address and its TCP/IP configuration uses this ip address as the preffered DNS server. An ipconfig /all on clients and servers shows nothing out of the ordinary. However, there is a strange NETLOGON (5781) error in the system events on the clients which says no DNS server exist on the domain, even though these clients have the ip address of the DNS server configured in their TCP/IP setting.

There is also a secondary DNS server on another machine which is not active directory integrated but a standard read only zone to ensure there is no single point of failure on the network

All clients can ping the DNS server which is also the DHCP server. Authentication is no problem

please help me I am baffle. Thank

I posted for this question in the other thread you have in this group for
the same problem.

Hi Kevin

Thank you for your response I saw the post after I had written a more detail outline of my problem as a new post. I am very concern.
