I have lost the a: drive in my computer. My first drive is
now c:. After replaceing the floopy drive with a
considered good one I have narrowed my problems down to
windows 2000. I do have a 'a' drive in device manager but
it is not working correctly. I do get an error code
telling me that another device is causing the problem. Any
help would be nice.

Can you boot using a bootable floppy in the A: drive? If not, you have
hardware problems, like maybe you reversed the ribbon cable, or you have
the floppy disabled in BIOS.

Or maybe you haven't plugged the A: in at the _end_ of the cable. The fact
that W2K "sees" A: indicates that the cable is correctly oriented, but if
there is only one floppy, it _must_ be attached to the end of the cable.
