I have Windows Vista Home Premiun installed on a new rather fast computer. It
shows that the processor is occupied by NMIndexStoreSVR.exe.

What is the function of this process or application and how can I de-install
this feature ?

NMIndexStoreSVR.exe is a service which comes with Nero, it's part of that
horrible software called Nero Scout.
Open the start menu -> type "services" (use your language) and hit Enter
Set all nero scout services to disable.

Rubbish that comes with Nero. Well rubbish if you consider unneeded
services running rubbish. Have a quick look on Google about disabling
services and start up items, keep them trimmed to what you need.
