i did the ms update, and 2 nvidia drivers came up.
installed them without thinking of uninstalling the
previous drivers. i then deleted all the nvidia drivers
so i could start again with my cd. now when i try to
intall the drivers, it says theres a problem instasllinbg
them 'access denied'.

I dont have any user passwords on my computer, it is my
own machine! why wont it let me install the drivers again
and how do i make it do it?

Sam,
You are better off getting your drivers here:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Too many problems with windows update drivers!
I haven't tryed the 56.64 driver yet, I always wait for a
month to see any problems posted here. Go to the archived
driver list and download 53.04. This one I know works.
Always uninstall the previous drivers first (from
add/remove programs) and reboot. Then disable any anti-
virus software (and disconnect from the virus filled
internet). Then install the new driver 53.04.

If you can't uninstall,(did you delete the drivers or
uninstall them?), try the system restore to go back to
before you started playing. If that's a nogo then try to
roll back your driver from device manager(Rt click
mycomputer>propeties>hadware tab>device manager>display
adapters - rt click NVIDIA properties). If NVIDIA drivers
are not listed in add/remove programs then you can also
uninstall the device from device manager. If that's NG
then I would suggest trying to uninstall in safe mode as
administrator.
Hopefully something here will help,
John
