On Windows XP I use Norton Internet Security Professional 2004. The
AntiVirus is not installed, instead Norton AntiVirus Corporate 8.1 is used.
If NIS is activated, acessing the internet/intranet is much slower than if
not activated. It is about 4 times as slow.
I tried deactivating the subcomponents (Personal Firewall, Intrusion
Detection, Privacy Control, ...), but none helped. I have to deativate NIS
entirely for speeding up.
If NIS is deactivated, the web page builds immediately (tested with an
intranet application). But if it is activated, first the page is shown, then
the variaous images appear one after the other. There is a notable
difference in speed.
Does anybody have a hint, what might be slowing things down? It would be
fine, if I could reach full speed just with intranet applications.
