hi folks,i am not the most technically gifted but i can
read manuals.i have just purchased the above named
digital camera and a fine camera it is !only problem
being that i have succesfully loaded the software to my
laptop which operates windows xp professional and the
camera downloads photos when connected through the
usb ,no problem,however i have tried to perform the same
thing on my pc which uses windows xp home edition and
although software loads,recognises new hardware when i
connect and switch on camera,it then gives an error
message of camera not connected,check connection etc .if
anyone can help with advice i would be most grateful. b

See if Windows Image Acquisition is enabled, under
START|ALL|ADMINISTRATIVE|SERVICES.
It should be "automatic". If not, right-click the item, choose
PROPERTIES, and click the small arrow to the right of the Startup Type
box. Choose "automatic" and click on OK.

If this does not work, consider purchasing an Compact Flash card reader.
When plugged into the USB port it will act as a drive. Most any PC or
photo store has these inexpensive readers. Helps save the camera's
battery too.
